Marco Alvarado (Guayaquil-Ecuador, 1962) artista autodidacta, integrante del colectivo La Artefactoría, ganador del Premio a la Trayectoria Artística Mariano Aguilera 2017-2018. Como docente ha impartido cátedras en varias universidades del país; fundó, junto a algunos de los integrantes del colectivo, otros artistas y gestores, el Instituto Tecnológico de Artes del Ecuador (ITAE), pionero en la educación de tercer nivel en artes de la costa ecuatoriana; y es autor de varios proyectos comunitarios que reivindican la pedagogía popular y formas alternativas de trasmisión de saberes. Ha sido ganador del Segundo Premio de la Sexta Bienal de Cuenca (1998). Ganador del Salón de Julio: primer premio en 1999, segundo premio en 2002 y tercer premio en 2004. Participó en la Tercera Bienal de La Habana y en otras exposiciones internacionales en México, Perú, Argentina, Colombia, Brasil, Cuba y Estados Unidos.
Artista comprometido con comunidades rurales, denunciando a través de su trabajo la injusticia y desigualdad en el Ecuador, desde los 80s.

Marco Alvarado (Guayaquil-Ecuador, 1962) self-taught artist, member of the La Artefactoría collective, winner of the Mariano Aguilera Artistic Career Award 2017-2018. As a teacher he has taught at various universities in the country; he founded, along with some of the members of the group, other artists and managers, the Technological Institute of Arts of Ecuador (ITAE), a pioneer in third-level education in the arts of the Ecuadorian coast; and he is the author of several community projects that claim popular pedagogy and alternative ways of transmitting knowledge. He was the winner of the Second Prize at the Sixth Cuenca Biennial (1998), as well as winner of the Salón de Julio: first prize in 1999, second prize in 2002 and third prize in 2004. He participated in the Third Havana Biennial and in other international exhibitions in Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Cuba and the United States .
Artist committed to rural communities, denouncing injustice and inequality in Ecuador through his work, since the 80s.
